The Lapel Bulldogs defeated Elwood and two Tipton County teams to claim their first sectional championship last week.Lapel shut out Tri-Central 7-0 in the Class A Tipton Sectional championship match last Saturday afternoon.The host Lady Devils and Eastern opened sectional play last Tuesday with Tipton winning 1-0 on a goal by Mylee Granson with 15:25 remaining in the match.

Taylor tops Tri-Central 3-2 in boys sectional opener

CENTER — A couple of missed opportunities and a couple of bad bounces resulted in the season coming to an end for the Tri-Central High School boys soccer team.The host Titans overcame 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to defeat the Trojans 3-2 in Monday night’s second match of the Taylor Sectional.The victory avenged a 1-0 loss to the Trojans in the regular season and also advanced Taylor to Thursday’s first semifinal match where the Titans will take on Carroll, who routed Delphi 11-0 in Monday night’s first match.Taylor and Carroll will play at 5 p.m.

Tipton’s No. 1 doubles of Auler, Humrichous advance

ELWOOD — Frankton’s boys varsity tennis team earned a sectional 3-peat, while Tipton’s duo of Peyton Auler and Isaac Humrichous and Alexandria’s Owen May extended their seasons.The Eagles swept host Elwood in last Wednesday’s sectional opening match, 5-0.
