FRANKFORT — Tri-Central could not hold onto the ball during last Friday night’s varsity boys basketball game and host Clinton Prairie made the Trojans pay for their miscues.

INDIANAPOLIS — High school sports is starting to resemble college athletics at least in the state of Indiana.

Tipton freshman Jacoby DeFoe was the only area boys swimmer to advance to the championship finals of the sectional. DeFoe placed seventh in the 50-yard freestyle (22.48 seconds) at the Carmel Sectional on Saturday, Feb. 15. DeFoe also qualified for the consolation finals in the 100 butterfly, placing 12th (57.86).

SHARPSVILLE — Tri-Central’s Trojans capped off a rough stretch of basketball with a 44-30 senior night victory over Northfield here last Friday.

WALTON — Grady Carpenter broke the long-standing assist record of Matt Waddell, and the Tipton varsity boys basketball team closed out the regular season with a 54-35 victory over Lewis Cass here on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

NEW CASTLE — Alexandria senior Ezra Fye is headed to Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Friday after punching his ticket to the 87th annual Indiana High School Athletic Association Wrestling State Finals.
