Blackhawks end Lady Devils season

Tipton junior William Wolford added another championship to his list of accomplishments this season. Wolford pinned all three of his opponents on his way to winning the 175-pound weight class at the Pendleton Heights Regional this past Saturday.
KNIGHTSTOWN — Tri-Central and Elwood varsity boys basketball fans were treated to an afternoon matinee at historic Hoosier Gym here last Saturday. The Trojans and Panthers did not disappoint their fans as the two teams put on an offensive show.
The Tipton Blue Devils wrapped ended a stretch where they played five games in nine days by defeating Shenandoah 51-41 at the Inferno last Saturday afternoon.
CARMEL — Tipton’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of Lorelai Tragesser, Francie Condict, Izzy Walker and Rylan Cain placed fifth at last Saturday’s Carmel Girls Swim Sectional finals. It was Tipton’s best finish of the day.
SHARPSVILLE — Delphi used a strong first and fourth quarters to pull out a 59-49 Hoosier Heartland Conference victory over Tri-Central last Friday night.
Tipton and Tri-Central each had two sectional champions last Saturday and will send a combined 13 wrestlers to this Saturday’s regionals.
FRANKTON — Frankton employed a stingy defense to stifle Tri-Central in last Saturday night’s 52-38 victory at the Eagles Nest.
MACONAQUAH — Landon Spidel’s free throw in the final seconds of Monday night’s varsity boys basketball game lifted Tipton to a 62-61 victory over Maconaquah.
CENTER — As he has done so many times in his career, Tipton’s Grady Carpenter made big plays down the stretch to lead the Blue Devils to victory. The Blue Devil senior went coast-to-coast to score the go-ahead basket against Taylor here last Saturday night.
