Tipton County Foundation continues to support Encore Center

The Encore Lifestyle and Enrichment Center, Tipton County’s senior services organization, continues to receive operational support from the Tipton County Foundation. For more than 30 years, the Tipton County Foundation has awarded grant funds to the Encore Center. In 2023, Encore was awarded $55,000 in operational support and $10,000 in the form of a 1:1 grant match. In fact, the Encore Center has been successful in reaching a grant-match opportunity from the Foundation since 2017.

TCSC salutes school bus drivers

Tuesday, April 25, was School Bus Driver’s Day. “I may be biased but TCSC has an incredible transportation department,” said Dr. Ryan Glaze, TCSC Superintendent. “In their honor, I would like to take this opportunity to spotlight the invaluable contribution our drivers make at TCSC. They are a crucial link in the education chain and contribute to the success of our district. I can never say enough positive things about our transportation staff and drivers, who are the good stewards of our children and appreciated more than they know.”

Laundry Lift Day

Once a month is designated Laundry Lift Day at the only laundromat in Tipton, Doc ‘N Suds. This is made possible by a grant from the Tipton County Foundation’s Women’s Fund to the Family Resource Center (FRC). This grant provides laundry soap and dryer sheets. Local organizations donate quarters to run the washers and dryers during the four hours volunteers are there to distribute laundry supplies and quarters. School of Social Work in Indianapolis Janie Ames. A steady stream of launderers filled the washers and dryers most of the time during the Laundry Lift.

Dolezal not running; prepare for a slowdown

Mayor Tom Dolezal made an announcement during Monday’s Tipton Common Council meeting regarding if he would seek re-election. “After having served three good years as Tipton’s Mayor, I have decided not to seek a second term,” Dolezal said. Dolezal had until July to decide if was running or not. He could have been caucused in by the Democratic Party since there is currently no one running for that party.

Dr. Burke awarded

Dr. JoAnn Burke was honored in April at the 2023 REAL Services’ Age Of Excellence Awards Luncheon. She received the Les Fox Hoosier Lifetime Award. The award presented stated, “JoAnn, thank you for all your contributions and support you have given to Saint Mary’s College and the South Bend community. We are so proud of your accomplishments and the legacy you created.”
