WARSAW — Tipton’s Evan Long repeated as the 1,600-meter regional champion last Thursday to earn a second consecutive trip to the boys state track and field meet. Long’s path to this Friday’s state meet is similar to last year’s as he dominated the sectional and then found himself in a battle to the finish at the regional.

ANDERSON — Tri-Central’s bats were cracking, senior Felix Perez was solid on the mound and the defense behind him was strong. In other words, it was the perfect recipe for the Trojans to earn a 13-2, five-inning sectional victory over Liberty Christian last Thursday.

KOKOMO — Solid pitching and error-free defense were not enough for Tipton in Wednesday night’s opening game of the Class 2A Eastern Sectional. The Blue Devils’ inability to get timely hits saw them come up short against Taylor, 3-2.

ANDERSON — Daleville’s aggressive approach on the base paths led to a calamity of Tri-Central errors and a 12-2 Broncos’ six-inning victory over the Trojans in Monday afternoon’s second semifinal game.

NOBLESVILLE — The Tipton High School boys golf team tuned up for next Monday’s Noblesville Sectional with a 319328 victory over Noblesville last Thursday. The match was played at Harbour Trees G.C.

KOKOMO — Evan Long earned a pair of first-place medals in last Thursday’s Kokomo Boys Track Sectional, and he did it two different ways. The Tipton senior led the 1,600-meter run from start to finish.

KOKOMO — Tri-Central’s Lilly Stewart and Tipton’s Amelia Servies assured themselves of another week of high school track and field practice with top three finishes in Tuesday night’s Kokomo Girls Track and Field Sectional.

DALEVILLE — Cowan’s Tatum Rickert pitched a near-perfect game against Tri-Central in Monday night’s first round of the Class A Daleville Sectional. Rickert tossed a one-hitter as the Blackhawks shut out the Trojans 14-0.

DELPHI — Haven Wilson’s twoout, two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning lifted Clinton Prairie to a a 5-3 victory over Tipton in the first game of the Class 2A Delphi Sectional on Monday night.
