1952-2023
David Max Beeman, age 70 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood after an extended illness. He was born August 8, 1952 in Elwood, the son of Charles and Reva Mae (Davis) Beeman. Dave attended Wendell L. Willkie High School. He retired from R.C.A. (Thompson Consumer Electronics) in Marion where he worked for many years. Dave married Melendia (Marcrum) Meyer on June 3, 1982 and they shared 28 years of marriage together before her passing in 2010. Dave was a former member of the Elwood Eagles Lodge, the Elwood Moose Lodge, the Elks Lodge, and the Elwood V.F.W.
He formerly played softball for many years with the “Dudgens” in Elwood. Dave loved Cincinnati Reds Baseball; NASCAR racing and his favorite driver, Rusty Wallace; and watching John Wayne movies. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, sharing a beer with friends, and especially spending time with all his family and grandkids. Dave will be remembered as a quiet and humble man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He will be greatly missed. Dave’s family includes 2 children, Alan (Michelle) Meyer of Wentzville, MO and Gail (Dennis) Creasy of Elwood; 2 siblings, Robert (Brenda) Beeman of Elwood and Larry Beeman of Elwood; 6 grandchildren, Tyler (Paige) Creasy of Elwood, Chelsea (Ryan) Krull of Glencoe, MO, Karlie (Jack) Reese of Elwood, Gabrielle (Toby) Smith of Pendleton, Haley Meyer of Wentzville, MO, and Emilie Creasy of Greentown; 5 great-grandchildren, Colton, Lennox, Chesney, Rhett, and Colbie; 2 brothers-in-law, Rick Everson and Allen Smith both of Elwood; special dog and buddy, “Freddy”; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Melendia Beeman; and 4 siblings, Steve Beeman, Debbie Hughes, Pam Smith, and Judy Everson. A funeral service celebrating David’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating. A burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the funeral on Monday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elwood V.F.W.
