To know Dave Arnett, was to love Dave Arnett. That’s what is spoken most often about him. He was kind. He loved his family. He loved Classic Rock. He loved the outdoors. He loved fishing. And, he loved canoeing. Not to mention his love for heirloom tomatoes that he proudly grew and was always willing to share with others.
Unfortunately, Dave met an untimely death a few years ago, that shook up the entire community. He was in an accident while preparing the old Boy Scout Woods to become a disc golf course.
Dave’s family thought of ways to memorialize him somehow within the City of Tipton.
Jama Fernung, Dave’s daughter, states, “Dad took us all canoeing as we were growing up. The grandkids loved collecting golf balls on their trips through Cicero Creek. Dad also always took them to the park. He was always involved in their activities and always kept them engaged. We thought it was fitting to have Dad memorialized somehow by the City of Tipton. This is what we came up with.”
“Gone Fishing” is a new playground item at Tipton City Park. The small cabin, the gone fishing sign and the little canoe are all perfect to memorialize Dave.
“Bring your kids, enjoy it, said Jama. “and think of the old man.”
