Tri-Central FFA Chapter

Tri-Central FFA Chapter recently had a successful Leadership Development night. Moving on to state are Lucy Ryan - Ag Communications Proficiency, Jonathan Deweese - Ag Sales Presentation and Kaitlyn Marusewski - Extemporaneous Public Speaking and Employment Skills. Bringing home hardware was Lillian Stewart - 2nd Scrapbook, Audrey Maruszewski and Bella Stewart - 3rd Horticulture and Landscape Demonstration and Kaitlyn Maruszewski - 2nd Premier Leadership. Other participants were: Lucy Ryan - Multimedia Scrapbook and Essay, Emily and Audrey Maruszewski - Food Science Demonstration, Braiden Vandenvender - Natural Resources Demonstration, Rubie Taylor, Sam Rinehart, Lucy Ryan and Jonathan Deweese - Exhibit and our quiz bowl teams of Bella Stewart, Emily Maruszewski, Ava Stewart, Layla Ahrens, Judson Hinkle, Eli McCoy Jayden and Jordan Hogwood and Ellie Taylor -Animal Science Demonstration. Join Tipton Band and Choir

Attention 5th grade students and families! Over the next few days, students will be learning about Tipton Bands and Choirs. All students are invited to participate in Band or Choir as 6th graders, which are classes during the school day. No experience necessary.

Daily Report

Nathan Scott Grace, 32, Elwood, was arrested by a Tipton County Sheriff’s Officer, on Feb. 28, on charges of operating a vehicle with a BAC of .10 or more and operating while intoxicated causing endangerment.

Soil sampling program available for Hoosier farmers

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) and partners throughout the state have worked with the Gulf Hypoxia Program (GHP) to develop a no-cost program with a focus on increasing the knowledge and use of soil sampling as a nutrient management practice to benefit farm operations. The program, titled Indiana’s Mississippi River Basin Soil Sampling Program, is open now for applicants.

‘Be Kind to the elderly’

People make fun of old guys, asking, Why do they wear their belt so close to the armpits? I am an elderly gentleman, not to mention an old guy, not to put too fine a point on it. Life’s experiences and empirical evidence may serve us well in this case, and since you have not lived long enough to observe it yourself, I will tell you why.

Social Security Matters

Dear Rusty: I am a married woman, at my full retirement age, and the primary earner in my marriage. How do I know if I should take my Social Security now or wait till 70? I will lose quite a bit if I take it now. How will it affect my taxes if I take it now while still working a full-time job?
