Like a beacon in the sky

The Tipton County Courthouse is a beautiful building and one of the main skylines as you approach Tipton County. Many people will look for the Courthouse clock when returning from a trip. I know of people who will play the game, “who can spot the courthouse first,” when traveling. The courthouse is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historical Places. Robbi Delph captured a beautiful photo of the courthouse, along with a gorgeous sky, as she was driving in from east of downtown.

Arrests reported

• Michael Christopher Hawkins, 33, Noblesville, was arrested on Feb. 18, by the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office, on a charge of failure to appear.

TCSC celebrates Public Schools Week

This is Public Schools Week - a week designated to recognize and celebrate the invaluable role of our nation’s public schools. It also gives us an opportunity to shine a light on what makes public education so incredible and what K-12 public education institutions like Tipton Community School Corporation provide for our children, families, and community.

Social Security Matters

Dear Rusty: Please help. I served from 1964 to 1966 in the US Army. I have been trying to contact Social Security in order to request extra benefits for veterans. The telephone is a recording, and you never get to speak to anyone. The web site at www.ssa.gov is useless to me. I went to the SS office and there was a huge line outdoors in the freezing cold. I am disabled and cannot stand on a line in this cold. Please advise me about my options. Financially, is it worth the trouble?

Plain Vanilla

I am neither the most affable nor the most sociable person in the county, but people interest me. I find that if I show an inkling of that interest to a near-stranger, or even a complete stranger, an interesting conversation is likely to ensue.
