A Public Hearing took place during a recent Tipton Common Council meeting to make changes to an ordinance that regulates the speed limit on Jefferson Street from the 200 block of West Street to the 300 block of East Street. The proposed speed limit is 20 mph. The speed limit on Main Street from the 100 block to the north to the 200 block to the south will be changed to 20 mph.
Tipton’s varsity softball team put together a complete game on Friday night to pull out a 2-1 victory over visiting Twin Lakes. Junior Emerson Merrell was strong in the circle, the defense behind her was solid, and the Lady Devils manufactured just enough runs to win the Hoosier Conference seventh-place game.
Tri-Central had two individuals earn first-place medals at the Hoosier Heartland Conference boys and girls track and field meet at Carroll High School on Friday, May 5. Sophomore Lilly Stewart (left) swept the throwing events in the girls meet, winning the shot put with a school-record breaking throw of 35-feet, 3-inches.
1937-2023 Reverend James Leon Sharber, 85, of Windfall, graduated to his heavenly home on Thursday, May 11, 2023. He was born on July 18, 1937 in Maryville, Tennessee to his parents, Harold Sharber and Myrtle (Teffetellar) Sharber.
Robert L. “Bob” Martin, age 72 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Ascension-St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following a very brief illness. He was born March 23, 1951 in Elwood, the son of Orval and Frances (Kuntz) Martin.
1942-2023 Ralph Brannum, 80 of Kempton passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at his home. He was born on December 14, 1942 in Byrdstown, Tennessee.
1955-2023 Donald E. Mark, 67, of Wabash, formerly of Elwood, Indiana passed away at 3:34 p.m.
