Lady Devils top Indians 2-1 in HC tourney
Tipton’s varsity softball team put together a complete game on Friday night to pull out a 2-1 victory over visiting Twin Lakes. Junior Emerson Merrell was strong in the circle, the defense behind her was solid, and the Lady Devils manufactured just enough runs to win the Hoosier Conference seventh-place game.
JUDITH KAY BARNES 1941-2023
After a long health battle, Judith Kay Barnes, age 82, of Elwood, was finally reunited with her husband Jack on Sunday, May 14, 2023, when she passed peacefully with her family by her side. Judy was born in Elwood on January 8, 1941, to the late Everett and Rebecca (Teeter) Barber.

1942-2023 Ralph Brannum, 80 of Kempton passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at his home. He was born on December 14, 1942 in Byrdstown, Tennessee.
Cooper and Kong
“King Kong” debuted in New York City ninety years ago this Spring. As I was reading about this famous film and its production, I got sidetracked by interest in the creator and producer of the movie, Merian C. Cooper, 1893 - 1973. I found that Mr. Cooper, who previously had never crossed my radar (unless his name flashed before my eyes in movie credits) lived a very interesting life.
Tipton’s Altherr, Long win conference medals
WEST LAFAYETTE — Cooper Altherr and Evan Long brought home some Hoosier Conference hardware last Friday night as each earned a medal. After placing second in the 110-meter high hurdles, Altherr dominated the competition in the 300 hurdles.
