1948-2023 Daniel Joseph Beher, age 74 of Elwood, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Ascension-St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following complications from an accident one month before.

STEVEN E. HAWKINS

1954-2023 Steven Everett Hawkins, age 68 of Elwood, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at his home. He was born August 6, 1954 in Tipton, the son of William and Virginia (Graham) Hawkins.

Taylor edges Tri-Central 5-4

KOKOMO — Tri-Central’s varsity baseball team is unaccustomed to being involved in one-run games, which may be the reason the Trojans have struggled to come out on top. TC is especially not used to being involved in one-run games in Hoosier Heartland Conference play.

Board of Zoning City of Tipton Board of Zoning Appeals meeting scheduled for today has been canceled. Merit Board Tipton County Sheriff’s Merit Board will meet at 4 p.m.

Dollar General looking at Windfall

WINDFALL - Residents in Windfall may soon see a needed new business in their neighborhood, a Dollar General Store. The DG is looking to be built near the intersection of St. Rd. 213 and West Mulberry Streets. The store would add needed groceries for the local residents who have to drive to Kokomo or Tipton for groceries. The only store in the town is a gas station/convenience store.

TC tops Sheridan in 9 innings

Cherry’s walkoff single gives Trojans 4-3 win day after 5-4 walk-off loss at Clinton Central SHARPSVILLE — Nate Cherry’s walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning gave Tri-Central a 4-3 Hoosier Heartland Conference victory over Sheridan here last Thursday evening. It was TC’s first conference win in six years and came a night after the Trojans (7-4, 1-3 HHC) saw Clinton Central’s Owen Kocher hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to give the Bulldogs a 5-4 victory.

Panthers defeat Lady Trojans 7-1

ELWOOD --- Neither Tri-Central nor Elwood handled the ball cleanly in the field of play, combining for nine errors in Monday’s varsity softball game here. The difference was the Panthers came up with some big and timely hits to spur them on to a 7-1 victory over the Trojans.
