INDIANAPOLIS – A longstanding Indiana law changed 0n July 1 in an effort to expand family dining space in Hoosier restaurants. The law previously prohibited minors under 18 years of age from dining in the bar area of a restaurant. But on Saturday families will be able to dine with their minor children under age 18 in a bar area – but for the sole purpose of consuming food.

Spring sports season at School in a Soybean Field switches the focus from random play and basketball to track and field. The seventh-grade and social studies teacher, Jack, is the all-sports coach for the seventh and eighth-grade boys. The school is tiny, but we have some fine specimens of farm-grown boys. Some of them think they can run and even fewer of them are right.
One of Griffin Hare’s favorite places is the golf course and not to just hang out but to work on his game and to play rounds. That long-time dedication has paid off through the years and more recently led him to a tie for fourth-place at the Indiana Golf Association’s state amateur tournament played at the Pfau G.C.
From aquatics to a wall fountain, city parks provide something for everyone. Opportunities for outdoor recreational activities in Alexandria are plentiful and varied. Five city parks and a baseball multiplex offer something for every age group. A popular place in the summer is the Tipton City Pool. Hours are from noon to 7 p.m. (as long as the weather cooperates). General admission is $3 per person with children 3 and under swimming for free. On Wednesdays, from 8 to10 p.m.is the “night swim.” Admission is $3 per person. Occasionally there will be a “theme night” and a special $1 admission rate for those participating. In the event of inclement weather or cancellation, Thursday night may be used as a rescheduled Night Swim. This year, thanks to a generous donation/sponsorship from West Street Christian Church of Tipton, all guests of the Tipton City Pool on Sundays will receive FREE admission.
