CONNIE WALLPE

Connie Jo Wallpe, 93 of Tipton died Monday, June 5, 2023 at the Waters of Tipton. She was born in Tipton on July 17, 1930 to Cornelius Jackson Fox and Nedra (Shaw) Fox. She married Francis Wallpe and he preceded her in death. Connie was well known in the art world. Her focus was on art, the creation of pieces and the promotion of this important part of culture.

Fire damages home on Green Street

Tipton Fire Department was dispatched to the 300 block of Green Street in the City of Tipton at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, along with automatic aid from Cicero Township Volunteer Fire Department, for a report of a structure fire. Engine 10 and Medic 81 arrived on the scene approximately four minutes after the initial 911 call to find flames showing from the south side of the structure.

Indiana State Fair announces second wave of Hoosier Lottery Free Stage Concerts for 2023

INDIANAPOLIS - A fair favorite returns bigger and better in 2023! The best concert value of the summer returns featuring classic rock legends STYX, American Country A Cappella Group Home Free, 90’s Hit Makers Gin Blossoms, The Fan Favorite Happy Together Tour, Gospel Music Legend CeCe Winans & Popular DJ Kurt Streblow and More! On Friday, the Indiana State Fair unveiled additional shows to its 2023 list of scheduled concerts as a part of the Hoosier Lottery Free Stage schedule, July 28 through August 20 (The fair is closed Mondays and Tuesdays). The Hoosier Lottery Free Stage has become a summertime staple for concertgoers and music lovers.

The Skeleton Patent

In 1927, Helen Adelaide Shelby created a patent for something coined the “Apparatus For Obtaining Criminal Confessions And Photographically Recording Them.” This apparatus took the form of a giant skeleton with red glowing eyes, meant to scare confessions out of criminals.
