The Indiana High School Athletic Association released sectional assignments for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons today.The sectional assignments are for boys and girls basketball, volleyball, football and boys and girls soccer.Tipton remains in Class 2A Sectional 39 and Tri-Central is still in Class A Sectional 55 for basketball and volleyball.
Senior Gavin Hare and the Tipton High School boys golf team are off to a strong start this season.Hare earned low-medalist honors in last Tuesday’s season opening meet at Walnut Creek G.C.
Tipton’s Cooper Altherr continues to dominate the competition in the hurdle events this.The Blue Devil senior swept both the 110-meter high hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles in Tipton’s two track meets last week, and is a perfect 6-0 in hurdle races this season.Altherr’s double blue-ribbon performance led Tipton’s boys to victory over Kokomo and Western in last Tuesday’s triangular meet and the Blue Devils to a fifth-place finish in Saturday’s Big Orange Invitational hosted by Hamilton Heights.Tipton won five other events in addition to Cooper’s hurdle wins in last Tuesday’s meet, allowing the Blue Devils to edge Kokomo 61-57.
Tipton’s high school girls track team placed third in last Tuesday’s triangular meet against Kokomo and Western.
Tipton had five basketball players earn All-Hoosier Conference first team honors and two others receive honorable mention honors.The Blue Devils won the boys conference championship with seniors Nolan Swan and Jackson Money and junior Grady Carpenter getting named to the All-HC team.
FRANKTON — Shaun Jarrett had a monster day at the plate to lead Frankton to a 16-5, five-inning victory over Tipton on Monday night.Jarrett finished doubled twice, singled twice and drove in five runs in four plate appearances as the Eagles won their second straight game after opening the season with four consecutive losses.
SHARPSVILLE — Both Elwood and Tri-Central had struggled and had just one win between them entering Monday’s varsity softball game here.The Panthers recorded an 18-8 victory over Sheridan on Monday, April 15.
TIPTON — Tipton’s varsity softball team is winless no longer.Emerson Merrell pitched a three-hitter and Lacey Bitner slugged a three-run home run to lead the Lady Devils to a 12-1 victory over Taylor here on Monday night.
CENTER — Tipton never trailed in Saturday’s 11-3 and 12-6 doubleheader sweep over host Taylor.That was a first for the Blue Devils, who also picked up their first wins of the season.
