Tipton’s season off to rough start

BUNKER HILL — Points were hard to come by and turnovers came in abundance for Tipton’s varsity girls basketball team in Saturday’s season-opener at Maconaquah.The Lady Devils turned the ball over 35 times in their 57-11 loss to the Braves.Maconaquah started five seniors, who were key contributors last season, while Tipton started two freshman, a sophomore, a junior and a senior – all making their first varsity start.“It’s tough to start out against a team that starts five seniors when you are starting players that played jayvee or eighth-grade basketball a year ago,” Tipton coach Lela Gillmann said.
