Coaching basketball is a family tradition for the Hensons. And one of the family’s crowning moments came on Saturday, March 29 when Manchester won the Class 2A state championship.

FRANKTON — The senior trio of Grady Carpenter, Sam Quigley and Landon Spidel performed like the veterans they are and led Tipton to a 41-31 victory over Taylor in the opening game of Tuesday night’s Class 2A Frankton Sectional.
Cliff Hawkins has spent the last 46 years impacting young people whether it be in a classroom or on a basketball court. He plans to continue to educate, teach and even coach, but in a different way. A way that will have Hawkins making an even bigger impact.
LOGANSPORT --- Tipton fell behind in the first half for the fourth straight tournament game. But this time, the Blue Devils were unable to rally and were defeated 54-36 by No. 4-ranked Manchester in last Saturday’s Class 2A regional game played at the Berry Bowl here.
In a few months, Tipton’s Grady Carpenter and Manchester’s Gavin Betten will be college teammates and roommates at Grace. But last Saturday, the two were friendly rivals.
Not every child can follow in a parent’s successful parent’s footsteps. But Alexandria senior Jacklynn “Jack” Hosier not only followed in her father Mickey Hosier’s footsteps, she surpassed him in the school record books.
