It’s planting season

There are signs that spring is here everywhere. Trees that bloom are blooming. There are a lot of green leaves starting to show on other trees. Dandelions have made their appearance once again. Tulips and daffodils have made their comeback.

Tipton’s hidden gem . . .

Nestled on the top floor of West Street Christian Church, 132 N. West Street, are several rooms used for free tutoring for all grade levels. For Karen Dunham, a retired Tipton Community School Corporation elementary teacher, this program is her dream come true. When she retired, she knew she still had much to share with the children in the community.

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is observed annually during the second week of April. In 2025, it will be celebrated from April 13 to April 19. This week is a time to recognize and appreciate the vital work of public safety telecommunicators, who serve as the crucial link between the community and emergency responders. Diana Theatre finishes renovation

Tipton’s Diana Theatre has been owned by the same family for 96 years. Jim Paikos’ father, Nicholas, bought the Diana in 1926. Nicholas was a Greek immigrant coming to America at age 14, but the Diana was named after a Roman Goddess. A naming contest was implemented and a young boy won a $10 gold piece after his suggestion was selected. The Diana has seen four Paikos generations work her counters.
