INDIANAPOLIS – Who could ask for anything more? The iconic Gene Kelly movie musical, 'An American in Paris,' has turned into a spectacle on the stage and is now being performed at Beef and Boards Dinner Theater!' 'An American In Paris' follows three men who find themselves and learn to embrace their passions after making it through WWII. Jerry Mulligan fancies himself a painter and settled in Paris instead of going home to the States. Adam Hochberg is a composer and a fellow American looking for work in the City of Light. Henri Baurel completes the trio as their full-blooded French friend. Besides the newly ended war, one element ties this trio together, and her name is Lise, a young Parisian dancer with her own secret.
Tri-Central’s Holman receives Lilly grant
SHARPSVILLE – The Lilly Endowment announced the 36th Teacher Creativity Fellowship Program award. Tri-Central Middle/High School teacher Heather Holman applied with her 'Hemingway Summer: A Moveable Feast of Literature and Life' - pursuing healing and growth by visiting and writing in the places important to Ernest Hemingway, culminating in teaching a Hemingway course and facilitating a suicide survivors' support group. The money helps to support educators throughout Indiana by providing resources for them to take time for meaningful renewals. It is believed with these resources teachers will be able to have new experiences, exploration and reflection and teachers will be able to cultivate renewed energy, innovative approaches to teaching and educational leadership, and ways to encourage students' creative thinking. Recipients can receive up to $12,000 for their projects.

‘Rocket Man’
Reginald Kenneth Dwight was born on the 25th of March, 1947 but Elton Hercules John became his legal name on the 7th of January, 1972. He chose this name, allegedly, to pay homage to two members of his original bandmates in Bluesology. Saxophonist Elton Dean and vocalist Long John Baldry. John was always musical, learning piano on his own at a young age and gained recognition for his talents around age 11, playing at various school functions. When he began to seriously consider a career in music, his father, who served in the Royal Air Force, tried to steer him toward a more conventional career, such as banking. John has said that his wild stage costumes and performances were his way of letting go after such a restrictive childhood.

10th annual catfish stocking
The Indiana Urban Fishing Program celebrates 10 years of annually stocking channel catfish in urban lakes in order to bring quality fishing opportunities closer to Hoosiers’ backyards. Last week, the DNR stocked a total of 1,875 channel catfish ranging in size from 10 to 14 inches (average 12 inches) in the following locations: Meadowlark Park Pond (Carmel Hamilton County) – 100 catfish; Krannert Lake (Indianapolis - Marion County) – 225 catfish; Washington Township Park Pond # 2 (Avon - Hendricks County) – 100 catfish; Dubarry Park Ponds (Indianapolis - Marion County) – 200 catfish; Garvin Park Lake (Evansville – Vanderburgh County) – 200 catfishDiamond Valley Park Pond (Evansville – Vanderburgh County) – 225 catfish; Dobbs Park Pond (Terre Haute – Vigo County) – 200 catfish; Northeast Lakeside Pond (Fort Wayne – Allen County) – 175 catfish; Munger Park Pond (Lafayette – Tippecanoe County) – 150 catfish; and Robinson Park Lake (Hobart – Lake County) – 300 catfish These lakes are stocked three times from mid-March to the first week of June with catchable-size channel catfish.
