Most children are hoping for that “special toy” to be under the Christmas tree. As a member of the Tipton County community, our readers have the opportunity to help that dream come true by purchasing a toy and placing it, new and unopened, in a collection box sponsored by Toys for Tots, an annual toy drive sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps.
Tipton County Commissioners Dennis Henderson, Nancy Cline, and Tracey Powell received an update from County Engineer Phil Beer concerning the spills near ABC & Me daycare on Fairgrounds Road.
• Tipton City Police arrested Corey Ray Campbell, 50, of Tipton, on Wednesday, Oct. 15 for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, operating a vehicle with a scheduled one or controlled substance in blood, and possession of paraphernalia.
Last Wednesday, Oct. 15, Indiana University Health Tipton Hospital celebrated 75 years of caring for the Tipton community.
“Jubilee Christmas of Tipton County is a children’s holiday gifting program that serves eligible families who live in our county,” stated Cindy Crist, current County Director of the program. She shared a little history of the program: “Non-profit status began in 1993 as Tipton County Shares, Inc. Now it is known as Jubilee Christmas of Tipton County (JCofTC).”
With food costs continuing to rise, Purdue Extension is helping families take control of their grocery spending through the offering of “Food Budgeting & Meal Planning.” The program is designed to help participants save time and money while eating well and reducing food waste.
• Tipton City Police arrested Moises Isai Landaverde, 19, of Indianapolis, on Thursday, Oct. 9 for dealing in cocaine or narcotic drug, dealing in marijuana, possession of marijuana, illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage, possession of cocaine or narcotic drug, and on a warrant from another Indiana agency.
A patron attended the Tipton County Library’s board meeting last Monday evening to thank the board for supporting Toddler Story Time, and to ask questions about the 2026 status of the program. Elizabeth Zubko, a missionary to Ukraine, has returned home in June, for the time being. Life in Ukraine is too dangerous for the children at this time. Her Ukrainian husband, also a minister, remains in this war-torn country.
The Tipton City Council met Monday evening. The meeting began with the pledge of allegiance, followed by the approval of minutes for the previous meeting, held Sept. 22.
Members of the Tipton County Board of Commissioners discussed environmental issues at Doctors’ Park and the newest trail which has been created in the Kirkendall Nature Preserve. Of course, there are many other topics that the commissioners are responsible for, and they chose to deal with these several topics this past Monday.
