The county governing body (Board of Commissioners) and the county fiscal body (County Council) met recently to discuss and prioritize the needs and wants of Tipton County.BOC member Tracey Powell shared possible upcoming projects: PERF (public employment retirement fund) for all county employees, a second matching READI grant from the state, and broadband expansion into all of Tipton County.
The name PROPEL has become a word in many Tipton County residents’ vocabulary in recent months.

Elwood’s newest Dollar General, located at 7915 E SR 28 in West Elwood, officially opened its doors to the public Monday.
At the September County Council meeting, Council President Jim Ashley commented, “We need to prioritize the projects; we have more wants than needs.” He expressed what many on the County Council were feeling as they heard a report on the BOT project that included renovations to the courthouse, the east and west buildings in Doctors’ Park, and the 4-H grounds.Justin Nichol, the project developer of the Tipton County BOT project, is with Envoy, a comprehensive Construction Management and Development firm out of Fishers.
