City Redevelopment Commission reorganizes

The City Redevelopment Commission reorganized for 2023 with the 2022 president and vice president being reelected to their same positions. Brent Cardin will continue as president. Greg Burton will continue as vice president. Michael Nasser was voted in as secretary even though he was not present. Susan Powell was reappointed as the administrative secretary to the board. This is a non-officer position.

Many ‘asks’ to Tipton County Council

Members of the Tipton County Council struggled with many requests for additional appropriations at its meeting Feb. 21. After asking for the additional appropriation, then the County Council decides if the need is such and the money is available. If the request passes this test, then council members approve the request to be advertised for a public hearing.

Trail members updated on Phase II

Steve Raber spoke to attending Tipton Trail members updating them on all the recent activity. Raber informed them he believes all of INDOT's questions have been answered and things are about ready to proceed. Raber also explained the final plans for the Phase II Trail needs to go to the Big Cicero Creek Joint Board. They will have their engineers look over the plans to make sure there are no possible issues with the process. Raber said he did not believe there would be because they haven't changed since he worked with the BCC engineers previously.

Ivy Tech to have Science

KOKOMO – Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo is sponsoring its third science fair to allow high school students invited from throughout the Ivy Tech Kokomo Service Area to show off their scientific knowledge. Eight students are competing in the fair set for Friday on the Ivy Tech Kokomo Campus.

• Candace L. Gard, 34, Anderson, was apprehended on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 10:54 a.m. by the Tipton County Jail Division on a Failure to Appear warrant. She remains in TIpton County Jail with no bond.
