Music students from 15 schools to participate in Indianapolis School Music Festival

INDIANAPOLIS – Students from 15 local Indianapolis schools will participate in the sixth annual Indianapolis School Music Festival on Wednesday, March 15 and Thursday, March 16 hosted at Arsenal Technical High School. The Indianapolis School Music Festival serves local instrumental and vocal music students through a collaboration with Music for All.

Fair connects students with community resources

KOKOMO – Where do you go if you need to see a doctor? What if you need food, or a copy of your birth certificate? Students found answers to those questions and more at Tuesday’s Indiana University Kokomo Health and Resource Fair. “This allows our students to see how all agencies in the community work together for the greater good,” said Stephanie Pratt, clinical assistant professor of nursing, who served on the planning committee for the event.

A funny lady with a funny story

Diana Shulman, also known as D'yan Forest, is a multi-talented performer; she sings and plays several musical instruments. But, says the Association of Mature American Citizens, the Guinness Book of Records picked her for being the world’s oldest professional comedienne. At the age of 88, she’s been at it for more than 20 years. When is she going to retire? As she put it in a recent TV appearance, “it ain’t over until the fat lady is dead.”

Tri-Central School Board takes care of business

SHARPSVILLE - Tri-Central School Board members took care of several items of business during their last meeting, including Conflict of Interest Statements and personnel changes. Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statements was submitted by Dan Delong for Shari DeLong, Dave Driggs for Apple Group, Inc., Jay Rayl for Rayl, Dennis Richardson for Richardson and Donnie Treadway for Constance Treadway.

Enforcement officer hard at work

Tipton Board of Works members, Tom Dolezal, Rick Rippy and Nathan Kring, received an update on two cases the Enforcement Department has been working on. Enforcement Officer Judy Coker informed the board that the case at 134 E. Jefferson St. (overhead apartments) has been closed. Owner Greg Armstrong completed having all of the problems with the upstairs apartments fixed. He is now in compliance with the Health Department and Enforcement department and the tenants are happy with the repair work.
