Tipton County’s top five addiction substances and mental health diagnoses

From July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2022 (State Fiscal Year), representatives of Community Fairbanks Behavioral Health (CFBH), the behavioral health care group connected to Community Howard Regional Health, reported the top five addiction substances used by Tipton County residents seeking treatment via CFBH. Stimulant addiction was seen in 36.35 percent of those seeking treatment. Opioid addiction was a close second with a percentage of 35.24 percent. Alcohol addiction ranked third with a percentage of 26.98. Addiction to cannabis was seen in only 1.27 percent of the patients. Those presenting with an addiction to sedative, hypnotic or anxiolytic drugs barely registered at .016 percent. (Sedative-hypnotic drugs are the ones sometimes referred to as 'depressants.' Anxiolytic (antianxiety) drugs slow down the activity of the brain. An older class of drugs, called barbiturates fit into this broad category.
