The City of Tipton has launched a $1 million capital campaign to support the construction and enhancement of the Tipton Baseball Project, a press release issued Monday states.

Mosquitoes collected and tested in Tipton County have tested positive for the West Nile virus, Tipton County Health Department officials said Monday in a press release.

With the State of Indiana facing a monetary shortfall, the county governments are some of the entities that take the hit. County Engineer Phil Beer II stated the county could only seek up to a million dollars of matching community crossing grants instead of the usual $1.5 million. Beer and County Highway Superintendent Bret Morris are hoping to receive enough grant money to be able to complete work on County Road 600 South, and the rest of the county subdivisions. Beer remarked, “We’ll get less than we thought we would.”

Carl Roy Webb Boards, the man charged with the 2022 murder of Elwood police officer Noah Jacob Shahnavaz, is facing an additional charge of attempted murder for the April 25 stabbing of a prison guard at the Miami Correctional Facility.
