Last Wednesday, Oct. 15, Indiana University Health Tipton Hospital celebrated 75 years of caring for the Tipton community.
“Jubilee Christmas of Tipton County is a children’s holiday gifting program that serves eligible families who live in our county,” stated Cindy Crist, current County Director of the program. She shared a little history of the program: “Non-profit status began in 1993 as Tipton County Shares, Inc. Now it is known as Jubilee Christmas of Tipton County (JCofTC).”

LAPEL — Tipton gave a valiant effort, but the Lady Blue Devils came up short in last Thursday’s semifinals of the Class A Lapel Soccer Sectional. The host Bulldogs topped the Lady Blue Devils 2-0.
A patron attended the Tipton County Library’s board meeting last Monday evening to thank the board for supporting Toddler Story Time, and to ask questions about the 2026 status of the program. Elizabeth Zubko, a missionary to Ukraine, has returned home in June, for the time being. Life in Ukraine is too dangerous for the children at this time. Her Ukrainian husband, also a minister, remains in this war-torn country.
The Tipton City Council met Monday evening. The meeting began with the pledge of allegiance, followed by the approval of minutes for the previous meeting, held Sept. 22.
Work is wrapping up on the new handicapped-accessible sidewalk on the east side of the courthouse in preparation for the east door becoming the main courthouse entryway. Courthouse law enforcement officer Kevin Stiner stated that October 14 will be training day for designated personnel on how to use the security scanner located just inside the east doors.

Dr. Susy Mariscal, assistant professor at the Indiana University School of Social Work, is the project director of Strengthening Indiana Families. She shares the history of the Indiana Family Resource Centers: “In 2019, we embarked on a collaborative journey with the Indiana Department of Child Services and the Indiana Department of Health to prevent child maltreatment by supporting families, building on family strengths and protective factors, reducing risk factors, and engaging community resources and connections.

Dear Eric: I have a tween age daughter (11) who used to be very sweet. Lately she has been very mouthy – always answers back and is rude, especially to me. I don’t know why she has changed so much. She has a younger brother and says I treat him better. I try to treat them the same. Any advice on how to handle this situation as I feel it’s only going to get worse?
