MARY FRANCES COFFMAN

Mary Frances Coffman, age 89, of Elwood, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born in Anderson on April 3, 1934, to the late Wilbur and Grace (Carpenter) Austin. On November 20, 1954, she married A. D. Coffman and they shared more than 51 years of marriage together before his passing in 2005. Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her family and her home. She was a member of Zion Chapel Church. Mary enjoyed attending church, singing, reading her Bible and taking walks with her friends. She also enjoyed going out to eat and having coffee with her friends, including special friend Stan Alvey. Mary is survived by her loving son, Larry (wife Pam) Coffman of Elwood; brother, Paul (wife Frances) Austin of Muncie; six grandchildren, Kyle Coffman M.D. of Westwood, KS, Jaime Coffman of Elwood, Christian (wife Michelle) Craig of Marion, Amber (husband Shaan) Mahaney of Alexandria, April (husband Josh) West of Muncie, and Kristy (husband Christian) Burguss of Jacksonville, NC; nine greatgrandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild on the way; and several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Wilburt Austin; mother, Grace Austin; husband, A. D. Coffman; daughter, Barbara Coffman; sister, Helen Newland; three brothers, Frank, Herchel, and Harvey Austin; and infant great grandchild, Mahaney. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson St., Elwood, IN 46036. Funeral service to celebrate Mary’s life will follow the visitation and begin at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Craig officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Walk Cemetery in Anderson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation .
