Taylor tops Tri-Central 3-2 in boys sectional opener

CENTER — A couple of missed opportunities and a couple of bad bounces resulted in the season coming to an end for the Tri-Central High School boys soccer team.The host Titans overcame 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to defeat the Trojans 3-2 in Monday night’s second match of the Taylor Sectional.The victory avenged a 1-0 loss to the Trojans in the regular season and also advanced Taylor to Thursday’s first semifinal match where the Titans will take on Carroll, who routed Delphi 11-0 in Monday night’s first match.Taylor and Carroll will play at 5 p.m.

Trojans lose to Comets 28-6

GREENTOWN — When Eastern’s Kaleb Hurt corralled the opening kickoff at the 29-yard line and raced 71 yards to paydirt, it looked like the rout might be on Friday night at Cogdell Field.But Tri-Central kept its composure in the early going of the teams’ Hoosier Heartland Conference matchup.

IHSAA releases volleyball pairings

The Indiana High School Athletic Association announced the pairings for next week’s volleyball sectionals during Sunday night’s tournament pairings show.The sectionals have changed a bit following the reclassification and sectional realignments this past spring.Elwood and Tipton remained a part of the six-team Class 2A Sectional 39.

Tipton falls to Frankton, Frankfort

The Tipton High School boys tennis team tuned up for this week’s sectional with a 5-0 loss against visiting Frankton last Thursday and a tough 3-2 setback to Frankfort on Monday.Coach Morgan Dolezal shook up her lineup against Frankton, knowing there is a possibility the two teams could square off again in this week’s sectional.
