ELWOOD -Tri-Central’s varsity baseball team got its season off to a strong start here Saturday, sweeping Elwood in a doubleheader, 10-8 and 13-2. “I thought our pitchers did a great job all day of throwing strikes and limiting walks,” Tri-Central coach Shane Arnold said.
Tipton won 10 events on its way to defeating Eastern and Taylor in Tuesday’s three-way high school boys track and field meet. The Lady Blue Devils, meanwhile, placed second to Eastern in their tri-meet.
The Tipton High School varsity softball team opened its season with a 15-1, five-inning loss to visiting Kokomo on Tuesday night. The Lady Blue Devils managed just three hits off the Wildkat pitching duo of Amirah Marciniak and Taylor Reed.

Wednesday’s storms washed out Tipton’s Hoosier Conference East Division baseball and softball games with Western. As a result, Thursday’s games became doubleheaders, and the Panthers swept the Blue Devils in both.

Last month, Frankton’s Brent Brobston was named an assistant coach for the Indiana All-Stars boys senior team last month, while Tipton sophomore Grady Carpenter was selected to play in the inaugural ‘Future’s Game,” and Blue Devil coach Cliff Hawkins was named an assistant coach.
RGarmon@cherryroad.com FRANKTON –– The Frankton High School boys and girls track and field teams swept Lapel last Thursday. The Eagles won the boys meet 76-47, while the Lady Eagles were 76-46 winners over the Bulldogs.
RGarmon@cherryroad.com NOBLESVILLE –– Frankton’s varsity baseball team is off to an 0-2 start following last Tuesday’s 11-1 five-inning loss to Guerin Catholic. The offense and defense were both lack-luster in the 10-run rule shortened game.

FRANKTON –– Thrust into a position that might normally saved for seniors, sophomore pitcher Paige Parker got out of a sixthinning jam that could have cost Frankton the lead it had enjoyed since the first inning.
