Back-to-back sectional champs

KOKOMO --- Similar to the regular-season meeting between Tipton and Taylor on the same Center Court, the Blue Devils put together a strong second half to take down the Titans. But last Saturday's 58-40 victory over Taylor gave Tipton a Class 2A Sectional 39 repeat.

Blue Devils defeat Argylls

GARMON KOKOMO --- Nolan Swan had a performance he won't soon forget. The Tipton junior guard scored the 1,000th point of his career on a night he finished with a game-high 30 points and led the Blue Devils to a 73-56 victory over Madison-Grant in last Friday night's semifinals of the Class 2A Taylor Sectional.

Tri-Central loses to Daleville 74-70

Tri-Central junior Stetson Newcom goes in for a layup in the Trojans’ 80-39 sectional opening rout over Anderson Prep Academy last Tuesday. Newcom scored 31 points in Friday’s semifinal against Daleville. It was not enough as the Broncos rallied in the second half to defeat the Class A Sectional 55 host Trojans 74-70 and advance to Saturday’s championship game. TC led Daleville 21-19 after the first quarter and 40-36 at halftime. The Broncos outscored teh Trojans 18-8 in the third quarter to take a 54-48 lead and held off Tri-Central in the championship game. The Trojans finished their season 7-18. Daleville lost to Liberty Christian 69-51 in the championship game. The Lions (15-9) advance to Saturday’s one-game regional at Frankfort, while Daleville finished its season at 11-12. TC graduates two seniors, Daetyn Horn and Gabe Fowler.

Repeat sectional champs

Tipton defeated host Taylor 58-40 in Saturday night's championship game of Class 2A Sectional 39. It's the second straight year the Blue Devils (18-6) won Sectional 39. Tipton advances to Saturday's Lapel Regional and will take on No. 3-ranked Fort Wayne Blackhawk (23-3) at 4 p.m. Team members include (from left): Isaac Humrichous, Maverick Conaway, Connor Hussong, Drake Johnson, Grady Carpenter, Nolan Swan, Landon Spidel, Gavin Hare, Sam Quigley, Sam Humrichous, Jackson Money, Oliver Conaway and Nick Nasser.

Tipton, Tri-Central advance

KOKOMO --- Tipton began defense of its 2A Sectional 39 championship in dominating fashion here on Wednesday night. Four Blue Devils scored in double figures as Tipton breezed to a 74-38 victory over Eastbrook in the third game of the tournament.
