Most of Indiana was preparing for severe storms Monday evening and throughout the early morning on Tuesday. The National Weather Service had labeled the storms as a Mesoscale Convective System or simply an MCS. An MCS is a collection of thunderstorms that act as a system and can spread across an entire state and last more than 12 hours. Tipton County’s weather started getting a little rough at approximately 12:30 a.m. Tuesday with 65 mph wind gusts and horizontal rain. Severe storm warnings and tornado watches/warnings were being announced from Chicago to Indianapolis. In Tipton County, several trees and limbs were downed, in many places bringing down electrical wires. Several areas in the county were without power. There were no injuries reported with these storms.
