The Tipton County Fairgrounds will again be host for the Independence Day Sky Concert Fireworks Show, on Friday, July 4 at approximately 10 p.m.

BurgerHaus Productions, a Frankton-based pyrotechnics company owned by Zach Burger, will again be responsible for setting off the fireworks. This marks their second year of putting on the display, which has a budget of $20,000.

BurgerHaus Productions has put on shows previously at Frankton Heritage Days, the City of Tipton’s Independence Day Celebration, Elwood’s 4th of July show, the Magic of Christmas in Elwood fireworks show, and will host several other shows throughout the region during the holiday.

The locally rooted pyrotechnics company has seen significant growth in the past few year, Burger said.

“We’ve got about 40 people total now,” said Burger. “Back in 2020, we were only doing three shows. Now, we’re shooting between 60 and 70 shows a year, all through the fall and winter for different festivals and other special events.”

This year, Tipton’s fireworks display will be choreographed to a custom soundtrack, thanks to a mobile app called PyroCast.

“It’s a free app that people can download,” said Burger. “If they put in a four digit code— SDAR — in through their phone through the app, you can listen along on your smart device. As soon as we begin the show at the fairgrounds, they can hear the soundtrack through their device.”

Burger said the use of the app replaces costly and repetitive radio station broadcasts.

“I make a new soundtrack every year to keep it interesting,” Burger said.

“We got crucified all over social media last year because we had to postpone shows due to weather,” said Burger. “I think that if people actually knew what it took to put these kind of shows on with the amount of electronics involved now, they wouldn’t give us so much grief when we have to do what’s in the best interest of the safety of the crew, spectators, and to take care of the properties we do these shows on so we can keep coming back.”

As the company has continued to grow, BurgerHaus productions has hired crew members from as far away as South Bend and Detroit, as well as locally from Hamilton, Tipton, Madison and Howard Counties.

“They’re really passionate about pyrotechnics,” said Burger of the employees. “They know that we put on good shows.”

Additionally, the company sponsors local organizations and events including the Tipton County 4-H Fair, Tipton County Tractor Pullers, Tri Central High School Athletics, and the Mid-America Threshing and Antique Show.

In addition to this weekend’s show, Burger encourages local residents to visit their Tipton fireworks store, located at 910 East Jefferson Street. The store is now in its third year at the location.
