The first annual Degler Memorial Bucket Bowl took place on Saturday, Sept. 14, between the Tipton Blue Devils and the Tri-Central Trojans. The event was designed to honor and celebrate the memory of Kyle Degler, a beloved teacher and football coach at Tipton Community School Corporation and graduate of Tri-Central Community Schools.
Degler loved both schools. He is remembered as being kind, compassionate, and had the ability to help others become the best version of themselves. He cared deeply about his students, athletes, friends, family, and football. His favorite game was the Oaken Bowl.
The Degler Memorial Bucket Bowl was created with the things he held dear in mind and will be an annual Tipton County Middle School football game with pregame festivities and a traveling bucket trophy. Degler’s family served as honorary captains of this game and performed the coin toss. TMS brings home the bucket with a score of 16-4.
All proceeds from the event will go towards a scholarship at TCSC and TCCS to commemorate the life and spirit of who Kyle was as well as college funds for his three young children.
