The Humane Society of Tipton County, in partnership with Silver Snout Senior Dog Rescue, put a call out for donations for the Sage Pet Hospital in Hendersonville, N.C. They were one of the few vet clinics that were still intact enough to be able to help the animals from Hurricane Helena. Sage Pet Hospital’s condition was grim. They had no clean water or electricity and were using headlamps to work on the animals. All their medicines were lost with no electricity and their supplies had been destroyed, but they were doing everything they could for the animals. Rescue workers were delivering animals, both dead and alive, to the hospital. The animals had been found in mountains, and trees, caught up in debris, and left at their homes. This is a horrible and heart-wrenching situation. Several Tipton County individuals, businesses and organizations pulled through, along with help from the Elwood Humane Society, and two cargo vans were filled to the top with much-needed items. These materials were taken to a larger trailer and put together with other items going to the hospital. Way to go Tipton and surrounding counties!
