You might say that Erin Tansy Enright likes to make people happy.
For instance, if you have driven on North West Street in the past few weeks, you will see a glow coming from a home at the intersection with Walnut Street. That glow would be from all the Halloween decorations at the Enright home.
When asked what inspired her to start decorating, Erin said, “When Clint and I purchased our home 8 years ago, I thought it would make an awesome Halloween/haunted house. We first started decorating mainly with pumpkins, cobwebs and a couple of small things but a couple of years later, Clint’s parents gave us some of their decorations which included a couple of animatronics, and that year the kids and parents loved it! So we started adding more and more every year from then.”
Many of the Enright’s decorations are homemade. Erin said her first big creation was the giant spider you can see crawling up their house. To create the spider, she used an exercise ball, beach ball, PVC pipe and a lot of spray foam.
“I love the excitement that comes from kids and adults when seeing what we’ve created,” Erin exclaimed. “Their enthusiasm fuels me to make it better every year!”
As the saying goes, ‘It takes a village,” Erin explained that their families and friends join in the fun every year. “This includes our parents, my sister, grandparents, our friends and even my kid’s friends! Everyone steps up to help out!”
Last year, the Enrights passed out more than 1,400 bags of popcorn or cotton candy to trick-or-treaters. “We give everyone a treat. The parents, grandparents, teens, etc….and even to those kiddos who come both nights,” she says with a smile.
Not only do the Enrights decorate for Halloween, they have an equally beautiful display at Christmas time.
And, if decorating for holidays isn’t enough, Erin likes to plan and decorate parties. “This all stemmed from my own kids’ birthdays. I loved making their parties over the top and then started helping friends. I decided to make it my business. Now I get to help make people’s special day perfect from either simple balloon displays to a complete party setup and I absolutely love that! I enjoy adding personal touches to every party and try to make each one special and unique.“
