Sara Marie Cannon

Sara Marie Cannon, age 59, of Elwood, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023 ,at Ascension Mercy Hospital in Elwood after a sudden illness at home.

She was born March 24, 1963, in Marion, the daughter of Jerry and Darlene (Frazier) Brannen.

She was a 1981 graduate of Elwood Community High School before attending college.

Sara was born with an eye disability and overcame this challenge throughout her life. She worked as a vending machine stocker for more than 10 years through B.V.I.S. (Blind Visually Impaired Services) of Indiana.

Sara married Michael C. Cannon on Oct. 10, 1981, and they shared 37 years of marriage together before his passing in 2018.

In her free time, Sara enjoyed listening to audio books and working on her iPad.

Recently, she was attending the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Elwood.

Sara’s family includes her father, Jerry Brannen of Elwood; daughter, Kristina (Michael) Lewis of Lexington; two siblings, Robyn (Raymond) Phillips of Elwood and Clayton D. Brannen of Kentucky; two grandchildren, Kristian Michael Lewis and Marissa Annalise Lewis; sister in-law, Ruth Davis of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

Sara was preceded in death by her mother, Darlene Brannen; two children, Jerry Michael Cannon and Patricia Darlene Cannon; a grandchild before birth; and a brother, Charles Brannen.

Sara’s wishes were to be cremated. No formal services will take place at this time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Batten’s Disease Association or Riley Children’s Hospital.
