William M. “Bill” Twiford, age 82, of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at his home after an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 9, 1940, in Tipton, the son of Newell “Meredith” and Elizabeth Inez (Hall) Twiford.
Bill was a 1958 graduate of Frankton High School. He married Nancy L. Mraz on May 12, 1960 and they shared more than 42 years of marriage together.
Bill worked at Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo for 42 years as an oiler and inspector and retired in 2000.
He was a member of the Main Street Wesleyan Church in Elwood, U.A.W. #685 in Kokomo and the National Rifle Association.
Bill was known for his ability to fix almost anything. He loved tinkering with anything mechanical and the challenge of making things work again.
Bill especially took pride in caring for his yard and property and no one could take care of it like he did. He also enjoyed fishing for many years and formerly was an assistant coach for the F.O.P minor league baseball team in Elwood.
In recent years, Bill loved going to flea markets, fairs and festivals of all kinds.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bill’s family legacy includes his wife, Nancy Twiford of Elwood; five children, Deborah “Debbie” Copher, Edward Twiford, Dave (wife Cheryl) Twiford, Bobbye Twiford and Lisa Twiford, all of Elwood; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a son-inlaw, Thomas Copher.
Bill’s wishes were to be cremated with no formal services.
Burial will take place at a later date.
