Rosemary Frye

ELWOOD – Rosemary Frye, age 96, of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Westminster Village in Muncie after a long full life.

She was born March 20, 1927, in Madison County, the daughter of Edwin and Rose (Williams) Seibold. She was a 1945 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood.

Rosemary married William W. “Bill” Frye on Aug. 10, 1946, and they shared 39 loving years of marriage together before his passing in 1985.

She worked as the complex manager for Elwood Arms Apartments in Elwood for many years.

Rosemary was a long time faithful member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood where she served on the funeral dinner committee and was a member of the church choir for many years. She especially enjoyed teaching Sunday school and was a leader within the church RCIA program.

Rosemary also enjoyed fellowship with her friends of The Red Hat Society.

In her free time, Rosemary enjoyed sewing, crocheting and was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan.

She adored her family and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rosemary will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was truly the matriarch of her large family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rosemary’s family included 10 children. The eight surviving children are William (Diane) Frye of Muncie, Robert (Kathy) Frye of Supply, N.C., Ronald (Ruth) Frye of Fernley, Nev., Edward (Anne) Frye of Trafalgar, Marsha (John) Chris of Elkhart, Teresa (Sam) Clemmons of Muncie, Linda Briles of Elwood and Barbara Deggans of St. Petersburg, Fla.; numerous grandchildren; and numerous greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Frye; son, John Frye; daughter, Rosi Parker; and 10 siblings, Paul Seibold, Helen Gebhart, Roy Seibold, John Seibold, Louis Seibold, Reta Seibold, Rose Seibold, Joe Seibold, Raymond Seibold, and Conrad Seibold.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood with Father Dennis Goth officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at Copher Fesler May Funeral Home prior to the funeral mass. A Rosary Service will be recited at noon at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph Church.
