Lewellen, age 68 of Elwood, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at AMG Specialty Hospital (I.U. Health) in Muncie following an extended illness. She was born September 7, 1954 in Marion, the daughter of Claude and Rosalie (Albright) Kochman. Carol was a 1973 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in the last class occupying the old high school.

She attended Ball State for two years to study Elementary Education. Carol last worked for SMC Corporation in Noblesville for nearly 10 years. She also formerly worked at both ELSA Corporation and Ex-Cello Corporation in Elwood for many years. Carol married Robert A. “Bob” Lewellen on June 11, 1988 and shared over 11 years of marriage together before his passing in 1999. Carol was formerly a member of East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood. She loved watching football games, always cheering on the Indianapolis Colts and L.A. Chargers. Carol also enjoyed going to classic car shows with Bob, watching movies, and spending time with her family.

She was especially passionate about helping medical institutions that care for sick children. Carol will be greatly missed. Carol’s family includes her brother, Kenneth “Allen” Kochman of Elwood; 2 nieces, Sherry Hyman of Elwood and Lori Vandermotten of New Haven; 3 step-children, Debra (Paul) Rassel of Pennsylvania, Bobby (Debbie) Lewellen of Arcadia, and Ricky Lewellen of Tennessee; 6 step-grandchildren, Brooke, Lynn, Ashley, Cody, Brittany, and Briana; 6 step-greatgrandchildren; and several great nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Lewellen; and sister, Cindy Hyman in 2019.

A memorial service celebrating Carol’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Dr. Rob McCord officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the memorial service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Elwood City Cemetery.
