Steven R. Zimmerman, 74 of Tipton passed away on Wednesday, July 19,
2023 at his home. Steve was born on September 30, 1948 in Elwood to
Melvin L. Zimmerman, Sr. and Evelyn R. (Lightfoot) Zimmerman. After
Melvin’s untimely death in 1954, Evelyn married Francis E. “Gene”
Fox in 1959. They were married for 55 years until Evelyn died in 2015.
Gene passed away in 2017.

Steve was a machine operator at Steel Parts in Tipton, retiring in 2018.
He was a member of the Sons of American Legion Post 46 and Moose Lodge
#1590.

Survivors include his three children, Michelle Mitchell and husband
Matt, Cicero, Steven R. Zimmerman, Jr. and wife Danina, Barnwell, South
Carolina, Amy JL Hampton and husband David, Anderson. Steve is also
survived by 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: one brother,
Melvin Zimmerman and wife Jean, Pulaski, Wisconsin and one
sister-in-law, Guyla Zimmerman of Sebring, Florida. He was preceded in
death by one brother, Mike Zimmerman.

Funeral services for Steve will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24
at Young-Nichols Funeral Home. Steve’s son-in-law Matt Mitchell and
Pastor Stephen Schultze will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview
Cemetery and he will be buried near his parents. Visitation will be on
Monday from 10:00 until the time of the service.
