INDOT to host public information meetings

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is hosting seven public information meetings as it continues the Planning and Environment Linkages (PEL) studies along the US 30 and US 31 corridors in northern Indiana. The purpose of the meetings is to report on insights gained from the public thus far, share additional data gathered by the study teams and provide an overview of needs and desired outcomes.

Looking Back 40 years and more May 21 to 27

1983 • At least 500 people attended the open house at the newly remodeled and expanded Tipton County Jail. Photos in the Tribune show Carla Good, a dispatcher, explaining the jail’s new control panel and IDACS computer hookup and Deputy Greg Alley guiding a group of on-lookers through the new facility and pointing out some of the finer points of criminal detention in one of the jail’s new cellblocks.

Downtown speed limits to change

Mayor Tom Dolezal announced the first step in discouraging semi trucks from going through the City of Tipton will be changing the downtown speed limit to 20 mph instead of 25 mph. The speed limit will also change at the curve near Leininger Acres from 30 mph to 40 mph. The signs and enforcement will take place on June 1. The stop lights will not be changed to red, yet.

Tipton FFA earns high honors

Both middle and high school members of the Tipton FFA competed in the Area VIII Livestock Evaluation Career Development Event at the Carroll County Fairgrounds. The Livestock Evaluation Career Development Event allows students to rank breeding and market classes of beef, goats, sheep and swine.
